Lights Camera Read is a long running publication to help artists and entrepreneurs to learn how to create their own opportunities. Unfortunately, some of the original blog was destroyed in the process of changing over formats.

Lights, Camera, Read in its original version, had a focus on parents, kids and the library (specifically Inwood, Manhattan branch). Those who are the force behind the first version of LCR would gather together performers, educators and other local talent, to put on fun, book-centered, shows, in full costume and in some instances, as the troupe branched out into other New York Public libraries, a portable stage and curtain drapes.

The mission of Lights Camera Read, a nonprofit sponsored organization established in 2009 (sponsored 2014 – 2017), is to help artists of all kinds (actors, writers, filmmakers, musicians and so forth) go from being “Starving Artists” to “ArtisticPreneurs.” This process begins with reading and media, hence the library workshops on writing and film.

Lights Camera Read, until 2018, did Digital Media and Writing workshops for teens at various branches of the New York Public Library including Inwood, Morrisania, Grand Central and Columbus. An example of one of these workshops can be found in this one with NFL superstar Justin Tuck.
